Summer Adobe course resumes!
At last, I’m a free man! All of my college exams are done and dusted, so I have a few months off until 4th year begins in September. I had great plans last summer about learning some Adobe Suite skills, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Unfortunately I never had much spare time because I was working so much. It was hard manual labour inside a dairy distribution center, so it was very very cold! The money I got last summer has kept me going until now, and will do so for the foreseeable future. I bought the online course that happened across my emails from Groupon and it’s my mission to get them finished by the end of June! So far it’s been very informative, as I was a complete novice going into it. It provides exercises and assessments, and it gives a great explanation of all the tools being used.
I want to get some basic skills with graphic design / art for any future gamedev projects I may start. Initially I tried going straight into Pixel Art, but I was way over my head with the concepts of things. I definitely would love to make something with a retro-feel, it’s probably one of my favourite genres of games; Axiom Verge and Shovel Knight being great examples! I’m half-way through my Illustrator course, so now I’m spending a lot of time recreating designs, logos, signs etc. just to get some extra practice. I don’t think I’ll ever master it but I’m certainly going to try.
